Mykonos

3/06/2016

I am in Mykonos !

Mykonos’ harbour

We arrived 4 days ago by the Ferrie. When we arrived in Chora ,the Mykonos’ street"capital" of the island, we were immediatly welcoming by Clio's family ! They are cool ! We went to her home. Clio presented to Chloe and me her big family and we took our lunch together. We ate a delicious squids  which were fishing by Clio's Father. Her dad is a fisher and her mum work in their guest house. They are welcoming peoples, like Clio. We visited the town. This is beautiful island which looks like the postcards, there are white little houses with flowers and blue windows and doors, hand painted streets, windmills, pigeon keepers, chimneys, lots of little churches and wonderful restaurants and cafes. At night we went out, Mykonos is attractive.

During this 3 other days, we walked  around, went to the windmills, fed windmills

the pelicans had a drink in the little harbour and visited the Parapotiani church, this is the oldest church of this island. And of course, did shopping and went to the beaches. Yesterday, we participated to an excursion to Delos. This is a small island where in the mythologie Apollo and Artemis were born .There are lots of archaeological remains.

Once at night we went to a beach party. An other day we danced in a club where we can listen greek music, we had fun on the dance named Sirtaki, it was hard, especially for me, of course Chloe and Clio were very good .

Tomorrow, we will organize a day of diving.

Plaka

 20/03/2016

Plaka is the old town, the historic heart of Athens under the Acropolis. It is also called the "neighborhood of the gods" .This is one of the most attractive districts of Athens .

There are mansions and houses with roofs from red tiles, small winding roads with steps, balconies with bougainvilleas ,geraniums and jasmines. That's wonderfull ! But a the beginning it was hard since this is a labyrinth of streets and alleys !

This is the main tourist attraction in Athens but also the typical Greek tavern of Plaka are the meeting point of old Athenians. I am charmed by this atmosphere. There are shops, art shops, museums, many restaurants, coffees shops, jewellery shops. Greek makes beautifull jewellery !

Moreover there are good places to go out at night. I think this is my favorite area !

Plaka’s street

Last week, I watched a movie named "Stella" , with Melina Mercouri and Georgios Fountas , they were famous greek actors. It was filmed in the 50's in the streets of Plaka. It was funny because I recognized some of them.

The Parthenon

 10/03/2016

The Parthenon is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece. It is located at the highest point of the Acropolis, so we can see it far away.

the Acropolis

THe Parthenon is dedicated to the goddess Athena, protectress of the city of Athens. It's construction began in 447 BCE and finished in 432 BCE during the reign of Pericles. It was designed by the sculptor, Phidias and the architect, the Parthenon Iktinos to receive the statue of the goddess Athena and to shelter money from the city and the Delian League. The temple was built in white marble. From the outside we could see eight columns in front and seventeen on each side. The fieze represent the religious festival of the Panathenaic. But this wonderfull monument was much damage, in first by the Turkish occupation in 1687 and after by British

There are more than fifteen others edifices on the Acropolis . There are the theatre of Dionysus, the sanctuary of Zeus, the odeon of Pericles,... My favorite is the Erechtheum because I like the columns, they represent woman named Caryatids. Moreover, there are a museum where it is exposed some statues or part of the fieze.

The parents are called Helena and Stelio and they have two daughters , Elina and Ada , they are 25 and 21 years old. I went to their home at 11am and we talked about what I have visited and done since I arrived. We had lots of fun. At 4pm we took our lunch ! Greek eat very late ! We made a meal with gyros pita. This is traditionnal greek meal, it's a little bit like kebab, but it's better !

At 5.30pm, we went out with the girls. They decided to take me to visit the Pathenon.
